Translate business requirements for technical team
Responsible for the data aspects of the data warehouse (conceptual and logical models of the data warehouse and subsequent data marts / cubes). Modelling data by applying dimensional and star schema models with an understanding of the techniques used by Ralph Kimball
Ensure the quality of BI solutions by identifying data quality issues
Plans the overall architecture of the data warehouse / BI solutions, including performance considerations, storage considerations, data schemas and subject definitions
Perform source system data analysis and data mapping as needed to perform data integration
Analyse & translate functional specifications into technical specifications
Participate in design workshops, providing technical insight and knowledge. Serves as a technical reviewer and contributor in requirements, design and code reviews. Identify and introduce process efficiencies in the data integration process
Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents to develop program logic using ETL technology. Optimize ETL data load jobs to improve performance and automate them
Create, document, and implement test plans and scripts to test program logic. Investigate, analyse, document and correct reported defects
Lead Unit and Integration Testing activities and assist in User Acceptance Testing as needed
Big Data Mining & Enrichment.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ideal Candidate profile:
3 to 5 years Data Warehousing and ETL experience
Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification (e.g. BSc Comp Sci, Mathematics etc.)
Experience in the following technologies: Microsoft BI stack, SAS, QlikView
Familiar with project methodologies (waterfall and agile) and SDLC
In depth knowledge of Data Warehousing and Data Management practices. Has strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and how best to organize underlying data structures to support BI
In depth knowledge of BI environments, solutions and implementations
In depth understanding of physical database design and optimisation for high availability and performance
Understands the range of options and best practices for common ETL design techniques such as change data capture, key generation and optimisation.
Understand ETL basic concepts of data flow, data enrichment, data consolidation, change data capture and transformation
Understand database concepts of referential integrity, indexes and keys and table metadata.
Ability to query source and target databases for unit testing
Ability to interact with individuals and groups across all levels of an organization
Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team
Flexible attitude (A 'can do' attitude)
Ability to be flexible and adaptable when dealing with change
Strong problem solving skills and analytical ability
Ability to thrive under production pressure and deadlines
Ability to allocate time efficiently, handling multiple demands and competing priorities.

We are looking for an ETL Developer with experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and dimensional modelling, with a particular focus in the e-commerce field preferred.
