|MS System Engineer: Server Infrastructure,   Centurion,   South Africa|
This position is for a System Engineer focused on Microsoft Server Platform Administration and will cover operational management in aspects of Physical/Virtual Infrastructure, Storage and Data Center Operations. The responsibility also includes relationship management with the business and service management of the complete ITS solution supporting the MMI Holdings Business Units. Manage the day-to-day operational functions and facilities within the Centurion environment.
The Incumbent will be responsible for:
Provide tier 2/3 problem solving and administration
Day to Day management of the Microsoft Server Platform Environment
Design, support and deliver on the Microsoft Server Stack - systems performance, capacity management and reporting.
Work closely with Senior Engineers or Architects in executing against the operational or strategic plans
Compile, maintain and distribute documentation with attention to (design documentation, processes/procedures, etc.)
Identify risks to the company and direct/escalate accordingly.
Ensures optimum utilisation and configuration of installed infrastructure.
Implement proper continuity measures to ensure timely recovery of systems according to business guidelines.
License and Asset management.
Proactively manage the environment to honour required service levels.
Provide an efficient and informative mentoring / coaching function.
Research and Development of System Center technologies and the implementation of these solution into the business architecture
Good understanding of systems, technology and emerging technology

Desired Skills and Experience
Experience & Qualifications
Degree/Diploma in IT/IS/Computer Science (MCSE/MCITP required) in 2008 and 2012
5+ years’ experience working with Microsoft Server Platforms with exposure to large enterprise environments highly advantageous these include all MS based technologies such as( Server 2008,2012,AD, Exchange, SQL, IIS, Sharepoint, UAG/TMG ,DHCP,DNS )
Extensive experience in managing, maintaining and deploying Windows Server 2008,2012 technologies
3+ years Solid DataCenter Operations experience
Backup and Storage Administration experience is essential
Solid Experience and understanding of how to monitor and respond to system alerts via a variety of monitoring tools or event logs
Solid experience of the Virtualization Layer(VMWARE, Hyper V, Xen)
Good experience with Asset Management of Server Infrastructure and Systems
Good understanding of the Network Layers pertinent to the overall Microsoft Server Stack
