Optional: Range of R120.00 - R200.00 per hour

The project manager/administrator will work for 6-7 hours per day at the E-Communication office in the Civic Centre. He/she will also be accommodated inside the City’s firewall to facilitate his/her access to IT project tools. He/she may assist with publishing duties as and when necessary.
His/her work will be supervised by the Head: E-communication. The incumbent will report to the Head: E-Communication for the duration of the contract whilst ensuring that the objectives are met.
The team size is 12.
Brief overview of job functions
The incumbent will be required to:
Plan, direct & coordinate multiple contiguous projects to ensure that the unit is able to deliver on its objectives
Manage the day to day operational aspects of each project including E-Communication staff on the project team
Develop project plans that identify risks, cater for contingencies and specify goals, strategies, staffing, scheduling resources
Review deliverables prepared by the project team before passing to the client
Effectively applying appropriate project methods and enforcing project delivery standards
Preparing for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
Establishing standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation
Preparing project status reports and informing management & clients of project status. Handling related issues if necessary
Ensuring project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately
Tracking and reporting team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
Managing project budget against the contract and other guidelines
Understanding how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully to management & clients
Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing successful delivery of technology projects, particularly software or website development projects
Able to see the big picture, yet very detail orientated
Comfortable leading a team
Takes pride in managing activities through to successful completion
Results-focussed from multiple perspectives: cost, time and functionality delivered (scope)
Good business knowledge and awareness
Working closely with software development teams
Able to create project plans and effectively manage projects accordingly
Strong written & verbal English communication skills
PMP certification desired, but not required
