Rural Fiber Optic Backbone Link, Data Center and Managed Services in Ghana

Ghana is calling for proposal for the deployment of a fiber optic backbone.

The project is design and implementation of a fiberoptic backbone link, including datacenter and server infrastructure, and e-learning management system. The project is financed by Danida Business Finance. Employer is the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) and the contractor is Alcatel Lucent Denmark A/S who won the international tender with a contract amount of approx. EUR 38 million.

The project is divided into two phases: hardware phase and software phase. Implementation period of both phases is 32 months.

Danida wants to contract an experienced civil engineer as monitoring consultant. The scope of the assignment is to: 1) act on behalf of Danida Business Finance, 2) to collaborate with NITA and contractor and Danida and 3) verify works, which have been finalised and certified.

Number of man hours: 600.

Number of site visits: 6.

Expected commencement date of assignment: 10 February 2013.

Deadline for applications: 10 January 2013 at 12:00pm Danish time.

The standard application form should be used. Applications not using the standard form may be rejected. Applications received after the time limit shall be rejected.
