Twiga Bank to Start Using Mobile Banking

Dodoma — TWIGA Bancorp has announced plans to fully incorporate internet and mobile banking before end of this year to widen access and convenience to customers.

The Bank's Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Wallace Msemo, told the 'Daily News' in an exclusive interview here during the just ended Nane Nane exhibitions that the software developers were expected in the country before end of this month.

"We are eying to introduce internet and mobile banking before end of this year and this will increase convenience among customers and will allow us operate where bank facilities are nonexistent," he said.

Mr Msemo added further that through internet banking customers will be able to access bank statements, see their balances and fill various forms online and thus reduce the extent of manual services.

In another development, Mr Msemo noted that the government owned bank was growing steadily with five branches now and another one expected to be opened before end of the year.

"We have branches in Dodoma, Mwanza, Arusha and two in Dar es Salaam. We are looking forward to open another one at Kigamboni in Dar es Salaam before end of the year," he said.

He also pointed out that the bank has various agents which include two in Dar es Salaam located at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) Terminal Two and another one at the Cargo Terminal.

"We have partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and opened an agent in Bunda District which was earmarked as one of the areas with lowest population income, our role will be to enable fishermen access loans as a way of helping them go commercial," he said.
