MTN Rwanda has introduced Cloud Computing Services with the aim of helping businesses minimize costs and improve productivity.

The Cloud Services provide business automation tools to enterprises across professional services, micro-finance, health and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sectors.

The MTN Business Cloud offerings are:

Cloud Collaboration: for companies' employees to share their documents wherever they are;

Cloud Backup: to keep documents and other files secure in the event of data corruption, theft or other losses;

Cloud Customer Management: for companies to access their customer information from anywhere;

MozyPro: a back-up service for the effective management of files and servers;

McAfee Anti-virus and email security.

"As the first telecoms operator to offer Cloud Services to businesses in Rwanda, MTN will be providing access to ICT services to businesses while helping them minimize their infrastructure costs," said MTN Business General Manager, Norman Munyampundu. "Instead of having separate systems for each section in a company, MTN Cloud Services enables these companies to share a common pool of resources and operate more efficiently."

As a way of offering customized and simplified solutions to customers, MTN customers can pay for Cloud Services using MTN Mobile Money. They also have the option of using some of the services for free on a 30 to 60-day trial period.

The Cloud Services are already available in Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Guinea Conakry, Cote d'Ivoire, South Africa and Swaziland.

The use of Cloud Computing comes as a means to consolidate Rwanda's agenda to be the ICT hub in the region.
