Two hours after KDF Twitter account (@KDFinfo) was restored, the account was hacked into again with Anonymous (@Anonymous_0*03) taking the credit.

The hackers also went ahead to hack Major Emmanuel Chirchir's (@MajorEChirchir), the KDF spokesman's account again minutes after his account was restored and after he posted a tweet to thank the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit's (PSCU) digital team for recovering the accounts.

Kenyan military spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir often uses Twitter to give updates of the war against Somalia's al-Shabab militant group.

On their tweets, the hackers criticize President Uhuru Kenyatta's government for buying guns while citizens are languishing in hunger and poverty. They also have posted a number of tweets that are abusive and misleading.

The group also claims to have hacked three more government websites which include Integrated Financial Management Information System of Kenya (IFMIS), Ministry of Immigration and Registration of Persons of Kenya and Reforms Kenya. However, the IFMIS and Ministry of Immigration websites have since been restored.

Last year, a group called Anonymous Africa hacked into the account of Zimbabwe's defence ministry, and targeted the website of South Africa's governing African National Congress.
