The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday inaugurated a 160- metre communication tower and an Information Communications Technology (ICT) centre at the Apapa command in Lagos.

The Zone 'A' Coordinator of the NCS, Mr Victor Gbemudu, said at the occasion that the tower and the ICT centre would reduce the network failure problems encountered by operators in the course of processing their documents.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inauguration also went along with a two-day training on ICT and customs procedures for journalists covering the maritime beat.

Gbemudu, an Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, said the ICT centre was domiciled in Apapa because the command was the flagship of the service.

"The ICT centre is located in Apapa but not for resident officers in Apapa Command alone but for the entire zone.
