Cord leaders in Mombasa have launched a Twitter hash tag #BabaTukutaneMombasa. The hash tag launched last week on Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's Twitter account, @HassanAliJoho, is trending in Mombasa ahead of the Sunday's Cord rally at Tononoka grounds.

The theme of the rally is 'The road to national dialogue'. The tag is a replica of the famous #BabaWhileYouWereAway, which trended during the return of Cord leader Raila Odinga from the US. Cord principals Raila, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula and top coalition leadership are to lead the rally.

Speaking to the Star yesterday, Joho's political advisor Idris Abdulrahman said the rally will be peaceful. "We expect to have a peaceful forum. This is not a political rally but a consultative meeting where the leaders will bring their heads together with wananchi. It will set a platform for addressing issues affecting the country ahead of the national dialogue," Abdulrahman said.

Tweets under the hash tag include @Celvinkomo# #BabaTukutaneMombasa #baba because we believe this country is not for two tribes but 42 vibrant ethnic groups. Governor Joho tweeted @ HassanAliJoho Hayaa hayaa hayaa #BabaTukutaneMombasa on Sunday June 15 Twende Kazi!!! (Let's meet in Mombasa on Sunday June 15.

Let's go!!!) @ChrisMaitha tweeted, please address issues pertaining to the dwindling tourism sector affecting the region and solutions #BabaTukutaneMombasa. Andrew Joe @drews tweeted #BabaTukutaneMombasa karibuni Mombasa nitakuwa nauza juicy, korosho na barafu (Welcome to Mombasa, I will be selling juice, cashew nuts and ice). Raila yesterday attended the burial of Muslim cleric Sheikh Mohammed Idris.
